In the third, the Pioneers quickly jumped out to a 12-3 lead. Southbridge closed the frame 25-9 and took the 2-1 lead.

The fourth set opened with both teams once again trading off points before tying at 8-8. The Pioneers took the leading score but the Broncos remained close behind.

The final set opened with a 6-2 score led by Southbridge. The Pioneers took the lead for the remainder of the frame before taking the set 15-9 and the 3-2 victory.

Despite the frustrating loss, Keefe Tech proved themselves worthy opponents on the court.

Broncos Sally Ames commented on her team’s stamina throughout the game.

“Even when we were not doing well we were able to come together after every play and still have fun,” she said, “We were able to honor our seniors and just have a lot of fun which I thought was such a positive experience.”

Ames said the main focus for upcoming practices gearing up for Monday’s game is working on “basic skills” and “the tiny things” to bring it all together.

Coach Warren said although the Broncos record is 1-14, the greatest accomplishment from the team is their ability to keep fighting and stick together.

“The biggest emphasis this season has been learning how to play together and believe in each other and think positive,” he said.

The Broncos are back on the court on Monday, October 17, when they host against Oxford High School starting at 3:30 p.m.
