1 Today is Mark J. Goldman Day in the City of Framingham. The Mayor and the City Council declared the day to honor the late community activist and volunteer who died in September 2021, at the age of 74.

2. Today is World’s Alzheimer’s Day. It is celebrated on September 21 annually.

Facts about dementia:

  • There are currently estimated to be over 55 million people worldwide living with dementia.
  • The number of people affected is set to rise to 139 million by 2050, with the greatest increases in low and middle income countries
  • Already 60% of people with dementia live in low and middle income countries, but by 2050 this will rise to 71%
