SALEM – As the countdown until polls close, Mayor Kim Driscoll has scored key endorsements from Carmen’s Local 589, Laborers Local 133, Laborers Local 22, Plymouth County Register of Deeds John Buckley, Former Lt. Governor Evelyn Murphy, and former gubernatorial candidate Danielle Allen.

Driscoll has surged recently: raising over $200,000 in the month of August, leading the field in every single public poll, and gaining dozens of new endorsements in the final weeks leading up to Election Day.

“I am feeling energized in these final hours ahead of the Election and will continue to work hard to earn every single vote until polls close,” said Mayor Driscoll. “I am grateful to have such a robust, diverse coalition of support across this Commonwealth and I am looking forward to being a partner to every community on Beacon Hill.”

“I strongly endorse Kim Driscoll to be the next Lieutenant Governor of Massachusetts. Kim’s executive experience as Mayor of Salem and the respect she has earned in this role from municipal officials throughout the Commonwealth demonstrate her ability to gather elected leaders to work toward common goals,” said former Lt. Governor Evelyn Murphy. “Her skills in public leadership are particularly needed in these times. Kim’s decency, thoughtfulness, knowledge of and experience in public service, her proven record of achieving substantial improvement in the city’s fiscal condition as well as addressing future energy needs and adapting to climate change—I am confident that she is a public leader we can be proud to have serving as Lt. Governor.’

“Kim Driscoll has brought incredibly creative solutions for housing and transit to Salem,” said former gubernatorial candidate Danielle Allen. “Add in 15 plus years of on-the-ground experience and getting re-elected five times, Kim’s community knows she puts community first. That’s the spirit and drive I want to see in the Lieutenant Governor! It’s what we need for the Commonwealth!”

“Kim has been a tireless advocate for working people as mayor of Salem and I know she will be a strong partner to organized labor as Lt. Governor,” said Jim Evers, President of Carmen’s Local 589. “We need leadership on Beacon Hill that will invest in transportation, prioritize workers rights, and address the affordability crisis. The leaders who will do that are Maura Healey and Kim Driscoll.”

In total, Kim has now earned the support of over 350 leaders, following the endorsements of Chicopee State Representative Joe Wagner, Agawam Mayor Bill Sapelli, Northampton Mayor Gina-Louise Sciarra, West Springfield Mayor Will Reichelt, and other leaders while in Western Massachusetts during last week’s visit in the region. To date, Mayor Driscoll’s public endorsers include current and former elected officials across Massachusetts, labor unions, national leaders such as Barbara Lee, EMILY’s List, and the Planned Parenthood Advocacy Fund of Massachusetts. These endorsements also follow Driscoll’s resounding endorsement at the Massachusetts Democratic Party Convention in Worcester this past June, where she secured over 41% of support in a crowded five-way race.

Driscoll is Salem’s 50th Mayor, the first woman to serve in the role, and has been reelected five times with significant margins for the job. her career includes work in Chelsea, serving as Chief Legal Counsel and Deputy City Manager, working to rebuild the city as it came out of receivership by helping to usher in inclusivity, equity, and accountability. In 2003, just three years into her Salem City Council term, she knew her hometown deserved new leadership and transparency in City Hall. She won a tough, three-way race in 2005, and since then, Driscoll has led on issues that matter most to our neighborhoods – COVID-19 response and recovery efforts, improving the city’s public schools as Chairwoman of the School Committee, supporting housing affordability, boosting economic empowerment by supporting small businesses, leading on climate action and resiliency in a historic seaside community, and a commitment to racial equity and inclusion at a time of national upheaval.

As a proud member of the “Get Stuff Done” wing of government, Driscoll has exemplified great leadership for Salem, our region, and our Commonwealth. She is now running for Lieutenant Governor to bring that effective, equitable, and visionary leadership to Beacon Hill and empower cities and towns across Massachusetts.
