FRAMINGHAM – The reigning MASCAC Volleyball Tournament Champion Framingham State Rams are the preseason favorites to win the 2022 crown as voted on by the eight coaches around the league. 

The Rams received three first place votes for 44 total points in this year’s poll. In 2021, the Rams were 5-2 during MASCAC play, won the MASCAC Tournament and made a return to the NCAA Tournament for the fifth time in program history.

The Rams return two two-time All-MASCAC selection Hailey Sanders. The 2019 and 2021 All-MASCAC selection led the MASCAC in blocks (81) and solo blocks (50), while also ranking second in hitting percentage (.289) and fourth in kills with 299 in 2021. 

Coming in second in the poll, grabbing three first place votes for 42 points is Westfield State. Sitting in the third spot with 40 points and a first-place vote is Worcester State. Earning the final first place vote is Bridgewater State in fourth with 30 points. Up next in fifth is MCLA with 28 points followed by Fitchburg State is in the sixth spot with 18 points. Rounding out the 2022 poll is Salem State in seventh and Massachusetts Maritime in eighth.  

The Rams open the 2022 season when they host St. Joes (Conn.) on Thursday, September 1, in a non-conference matchup slated for 7 p.m.
