BOSTON – Former Assistant AG Quentin Palfrey released a new digital video highlighting his pledge as the only Attorney General candidate who will investigate the Baker Administration’s mismanagement of the MBTA.
The video opens with news clips describing recent MBTA failures, including the Orange Line fire and the mid-tunnel Green Line breakdown, and includes footage of Palfrey pledging further investigation at the Attorney General’s debate hosted by WBUR in early August.
Of the three Democrats running for Attorney General, Palfrey is the only candidate who has called for an AG investigation into the Baker Administration role in the MBTA’s systemic failures.

In statements to the Boston Herald and Boston.com, Shannon Liss-Riordan suggested the state Auditor should conduct any investigations, while Andrea Campbell has only suggested influencing the T through the bully pulpit of the AG’s office rather than conducting an investigation.
Palfrey’s plan calls for a three-part Attorney General investigation of the MBTA to look into the public safety, civil rights, and fiscal mismanagement issues plaguing public transportation in Massachusetts.
“The mismanagement of the MBTA has gone on for far too long, and it is time for our state leaders to say enough is enough, the people of Massachusetts need safe, reliable and equitable public transit,” said Palfrey. “The Baker Administration has dropped the ball here, and we must investigate to get to the root causes of how we got to this point with the T. We need an Attorney General who will take bold action on public transportation, and hold state government responsible for its obligations to the many people in Massachusetts who rely on the MBTA.”

Palfrey is a former Assistant Attorney General and was the first chief of the office’s healthcare division. He also served in senior roles in both the Obama and Biden Administrations, and is the founder of the Voter Protection Corps, an organization that works to combat voter suppression.
In the race for AG, Palfrey is the endorsed candidate of the Massachusetts Democratic Party, several of Massachusetts leading progressive and environmental advocacy organizations, and over 300 grassroots endorsers from communities in every county in the Commonwealth.
