FRAMINGHAM – Framingham High’s Abby Desmarias earned a sixth place finish in the 300 hurdles at the New England Championship meet on Saturday.
“An event that she has never competed in as we run 400 hurdles in Massachusetts,” said coach Ed Crowley. “Fortunately our amazing coach (John) Sullivan had no problem helping this amazing young athlete, and person prepare for the event with little time.”
“Her time of 46.34 is a school record that will likely only be broken by her in the next couple of years for this sophomore.,” said Coach Crowley.
“Abby also ran the third leg on our AMAZING and also school-record 4X100 relay team; lowering their time to 48.48,” said Coach Crowley.
The relay team was “led off with our best block starter and senior captain Priscilla Mota. She blasted out to a good position and then handed off to juniorJoanna Ball who carried well down the back stretch and handed off perfectly after a season of staying healthy and running in multiple position on the relay,” said Coach Crowley.
“Abby then torched the turn as we’ve seen time and time again to pick up more positions. Matching speed with more speed in the final handoff,” said Coach Crowley.
Junior “Maya Bishop who took all season to return to form from an achilles injury was as fast as ever coming down the home stretch and leaning perfectly for a 3rd place finish against the very best from all the New England High Schools,” said Coach Crowley.
