FRAMINGHAM – The Framingham United Soccer Club announced this morning, May 26, it is cancelling its Memorial Day tournament.
“Unfortunately the Framingham United Soccer Club board of Directors had to make an extremely difficult decision,” wrote FUSC President Candace Donoghue to families today.
“Faced with extremely low registration for our annual Memorial Day tournament, and an unprecedented shortage of referees, we have decided to cancel this year’s Memorial Day tournament. We know how important the tournament is to the kids and we have spent an incredible amount of time preparing to host the event, so this was an extremely difficult decision for us to make,” announced the Soccer Club President.

“Our Club has hosted this event for nearly 40 years, but we ultimately had to face the fact that the low registration would impact the competitive aspect of the tournament, and the lack of referees is a logistical and safely issue we cannot overlook. Sorry for being the bearer of bad news, but we feel this is the best course of action,” announced Donoghue.
“We hope to see you next year at our tournament which will be held on a different weekend than Memorial Day weekend,” announced FUSC.
