FRAMINGHAM – Florence (Cavatorta) Van Den Burgh, 98, a lifelong resident of Framingham died April 29, 2022, at St. Patrick’s Manor.

Born in Framingham, she was the daughter of the late Giovanni & Angelina (Vincini) Cavatorta, and the beloved wife of the late William Van Den Burgh.

Florence was a 1942 graduate of Framingham High School, and attended Framingham Business School.

She devoted 37 years to the Town Clerk Office of Framingham where she oversaw hundreds of town meetings and their endless notes, elections and census counts with a don’t mess with me smile.

She was a devout catholic and a parishioner of St. Bridget Parish. She volunteered many of her free hours as a pastoral visitor, at the St. Bridget Food Pantry and as a Friend of Framingham Public Library, where she loved working book sales and having lunch on Fridays with the library ladies.

Classy, sweet, and strong, Florence will be most remembered for her warmth and kindness, and sometimes sass, to everyone she met.  Her family, friends and neighbors brought her immense joy. She loved spending time with them, especially by her pool, sometimes with a drink in hand.   When she wasn’t volunteering or enjoying the company of friends and family, she was tending to her beautiful garden, making sure the graves of her loved ones had flowers, and baking everything under the sun.

Florence is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Griffith of Ashland, her granddaughter, Lindsay Phillips and her husband Robert of Framingham, her beloved great granddaughter, Emerson Lou, and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband Bill, Florence was predeceased by her eight siblings, Joseph Cavatorta, Mary Frost, Frank Cavatorta, Ida Fiorvanti, Eugene Cavatorta, Nathaniel Cavatorta, Francis Cavatorta, and Thelma Towne. She was also welcomed into heaven by her most favorite son-in-law, Louis F. Griffith.

Family and friends will honor and remember Florence’s life by gathering for a time of visitation in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St. Framingham on Tuesday morning May 3 from 9to 10:30 a.m.

Her Funeral Mass will follow in St. Bridget Church, 830 Worcester Road Framingham at 11 o’clock. Interment to follow at Edgell Grove Cemetery.
