Bridgewater State Sweeps Framingham in Baseball Doubleheader

BRIDGEWATER – The Framingham State University baseball team suffered a pair of losses Saturday to Bridgewater State in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Alumni Park.

The Bears took the opener 2-0 before securing the sweep with a 12-0 victory in the nightcap. 

Bridgewater State remains undefeated in the Conference at 5-0 and improves to 13-6.

Framingham State drops to 5-13 overall.

Game 1: Bridgewater State 2, Framingham State 0  

• In the opener, the game was scoreless heading into the sixth inning with the Rams Scott Nosky and the Bears Matt Josselyn battling on the mound. 
• In the Rams half of the sixth, Lucas Basile was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning, stole second and advanced to third on a ground out. Basile attempted to score on a fly out but was gunned down at the plate by BSU centerfielder Sean Goudey. 
• The Bears provided Josselyn with all the offense he would need in the home half of the sixth. With two outs, Joe Frechette worked a walk and then stole second before coming around to score in an RBI single from Joey Molis. Kyle Suaci reached on an error later in the inning allowing the second run to score. 
• Josselyn tossed a complete game, three-hit shutout and did not issue a walk while striking out a career-high 12 batters. 
• Nosky allowed just two runs (one earned) on just two hits with four walks and six strikeouts but took the loss on the mound.

Game 2: Bridgewater State 12, Framingham State 0  

• David Kerns tossed a complete game shutout for the Bears in game two. He allowed just four hits while walking one and striking out nine. 
• The Bears recorded 13 hits in the game and pushed across runs in each of the first four inning. 
• Scott Emerson went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs and an RBI to pace the BSU offense. Frechette, Jay Wladkowski and Kevin Lindsay also finished with multiple hits for the Bears. 
• Anthony Panza took the loss on the mound for the Rams going just two and a third innings. Jorgell Diaz tossed an inning and two thirds allowing one earned run on three hits, while Nathan Labonte tossed two scoreless innings of relief. Labonte did not allow a hit while striking out three and walking none.
