FRAMINGHAM – The Framingham Police Department will give a presentation on human trafficking at the top of the Police Advisory Committee’s monthly meeting with special guest presenter will be Heather Wightman, Founder and Executive Director of RIA, Inc.
The meeting is Thursday, March 10 at 7 p.m.
Located in Framingham, RIA, Inc. provides services and support for women and children who are victims and survivors of sexual exploitation. Sexual exploitation can include the commercial sex industry, human and sex trafficking, and prostitution.
“We offer a trauma-informed approach to care and accompaniment that supports people’s journey to healing and wholeness,” explains Wightman.
Human and sex trafficking is a prevalent issue in Boston and in MetroWest. Framingham has experienced incidents and cases of human and sex trafficking.
“RIA believes that we can create real change in our lives, in our communities, and in our world when we work together,” says Wightman.
