There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters, said the Framingham Fire Chief.

Estimated damages to the home was $5,000, said Chief Dutcher.

“As we approach the winter season, this is a good time to remind people of good fireplace safety tips,” said Chief Dutcher.

He suggested the following 3 tips

  • Minimize creosote buildup on chimney walls or liners by using clean, seasoned firewood
  • Schedule an annual inspection and cleaning
  • Install a chimney cap to prevent leaves and animal nests (and weather-rain/snow)
