Framingham, Mass. – The third seed Framingham State University volleyball team defeated sixth seed Salem State 3-0 in one quarterfinal of the 2021 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) 2021 Volleyball Championship Tuesday night, November 2, at the Athletic Center in Framingham.
Framingham State is now 15-5 overall.
With the victory, third seed Framingham State advances to the semifinals of the tournament and will face second seed Westfield State on Thursday night at 7 p.m.
Salem State’s season now ends at 6-19.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- The Rams broke open a back and forth first set with eight straight points to take a 20-10 lead in the frame on a kill by Hailey Sanders. The Rams closed the frame on another Sanders’ strike taking the set 25-12.
- In the second, the Rams led 5-2 before Salem came back and tied the frame 6-6. The two teams traded points until the Rams used a 4-0 run to take a 14-10 lead en route to taking the set 25-17.
- In the third, the Rams led 8-2 and extended the lead to as many as 11 before securing the victory 25-15.
- Sanders and Valerie Sullivan paced the Rams with nine kills apiece in the match, while Anna Szymanski added seven and four digs.

- Isabel Henwood paced the back row with 20 defensive digs, while Brandee Thomas finished the match with six kills, three aces and 10 digs for the Rams.
- Emily Flaherty added nine digs, while Morgan Failla finished with 29 set assists.
- The Vikings were led by six kills and three digs from Hana Hogan, while Genevieve Kempster and Abigail O’Connor added four apiece.
- Eva Haralabatos led the back row effort with 17 defensive digs and 17 set assists, while Michelle Lee added 11 digs.
