Lukis Resigns; 2nd Framingham DPW Director To Leave Since 2020

FRAMINGHAM – City of Framingham Department of Public Works Director Blake Lukis has submitted his resignation to Mayor Yvonne Spicer.

His last day is October 29, a few days before the November 2 election for Mayor.

Lukis has been the Framingham Director of Public Works since his appointment in July 2020. DPW hired him in 2014.

Upon leaving Framingham, Lukis will become the Executive Director at the Dedham-Westwood Water District.

“Blake Lukis has done an outstanding job as the director DPW, and he has served the City well,” said Mayor Yvonne M. Spicer. “I wish him well in his future endeavors. He will be greatly missed here in Framingham.”

The City will begin searching for a new Director in the coming weeks, said a press release from the Spicer administration. Anyone hired in the final year of the Mayor’s four year term must get a 2.3rd approval of the City Council.

The Spicer administration did not name an interim DPW Director. There is no assistant DPW Director at this time.

Since January 2020, the City has hired a new police chief, a new fire chief, a new DPW director Lukis, who has now announced he is leaving, a new library director, a new highway & sanitation director, a new water & wastewater sewer director, a new health director, a new chief assessor, and a new Veterans Services Director. The CFO left the Spicer administration in June and the Human Resources Director left this fall.
