FRAMINGHAM – Framingham Public School District Superintendent Bob Tremblay visited all 14 schools today, September 1, with the help of School Resource Officer Kathy McGrath.

Today was the first day of school for students in grades 1-12 across the public school district.

Supt. Tremblay started out his day at Framingham High School, and then left A Street for Flagg Drive, which was basically a parking lot around 8 a.m. due to the 8;15 a.m. start of McCarthy Elementary and the start of Fuller Middle School across the street.

Today was first time 620 students were inside the new Fuller Middle School. The public will get a chance to tour the $98.3 million middle school on Sunday, Sept. 26.

Tremblay left Flagg Drive and headed to Barbieri Elementary, Harmony Grove Elementary, Thayer campus.

The Superintendent then visited Brophy Elementary, Dunning Elementary, Walsh Middle, Hemenway Elementary, and Potter Road Elementary,

Tremblay then stopped by King Elementary and Stapleton Elementary schools, the two schools in the district with new principals, before finishing his first-day tour at Cameron Middle.

This is not the first year the superintendent has visited the school on day one of the new school year.

Last year, there was no day one like today, due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Schools closed in early March 2020, and did not return to in-person classes for most students until early 2021.

Today, for some students, was the first time they had been in a classroom since March 2020.
