Spicer Nominates District 7 Resident To Framingham Community Development Committee

FRAMINGHAM – Mayor Yvonne Spicer is nominating a District 7 resident to the 7-member Framingham Community Development Committee.

The Mayor has nominated Karimah Grana to the Committee. The nomination will need the approval of the City’s legislative branch of government, the City Council. A majority vote is needed. If the Council takes no action, within 30 days, the appointment is automatic.

The Community Development Committee works in cooperation with the City of Framingham’s Division of Planning and Community Development to satisfy the citizen participation requirements of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, hold public hearings to obtain views of citizens on community development and housing needs, and provide citizens with adequate opportunities to participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of the Community Development Program. It also makes annual recommendations on the federal CDBG grant allocation.

In her application Grana wrote “I love making connections with others, listening, and being a
part of team that has Framingham’s best interests at heart. I have strong interpersonal skills, and am extremely passionate about helping others (we’ve been foster parents through DCF
for almost 3 years). I love animals, art, food, travel, the environment, music, and learning about other cultures because diversity is truly what makes our city amazing! I multi-task daily, and before COVID I owned a small personal consulting business, the K&C Group. I excel at bringing people together, social media, meeting notes, bookkeeping, and much more! I’m efficient, dedicated, and enthusiastic :)”

The Nelson Street resident wrote in her application she moved to Framingham in November 2019 and “it has been an isolating year and I would love to see our beautiful city live up to its fullest potential.”

She told the Mayor in her application that State Representative “Jack Patrick Lewis and I have also exchanged emails and I adore him and all the causes he stands for; I truly feel I’ve been
waiting for an opportunity such as this to come to my attention!”

Grana wrote in her application she speaks some Spanish and Italian.
