Updated: New tests came back this afternoon, and all three beaches will be closed on Wednesday.

Lake Waushakum beach in District 8 has not opened all season either due to e coli bacteria or recently the toxic algae. The City’s public beaches opened for the season on June 17.

Saxonville beach which is along Lake Cochituate has been closed to swimmers since mid-July due to the toxic blue-green algae.

The National Weather Service advises:

Be prepared to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. This is especially true during warm or hot weather when car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
