Hoops & Homework Program Receives $100,000 Donation

FRAMINGHAM – The Hoops & Homework program in Framingham has received a $100,000 donation, said its founder Herb Chasan.

The donation came from The Flatley Company, said Chasan today, June 16, to the digital news outlet.

This is the second time the company has made a large donation, said Chasan. After a report on the Framingham program aired on a Boston TV station, Chasan said the company donated $50,000.

Hoops and Homework offers academic and enrichment services to youth ages 5 – 14 residing around the Beaver and Waverly Street areas. We strive to ensure a safe and fun learning environment for all of our youth.

The program operates at two locations: Framingham Housing Authority’s site at Carlson and Pusan Rd., and Cochituate Homes’ site at Interfaith Terrace. 

Chasan told SOURCE he would love to see the latest donation used to expend the program to preschool-age students.

“I would love to add 3- and 4-year-old kids to the program” said Chasan. “We need to get these kids prepared for kindergarten.”

During 2020, Hoops & Homework was promote remote learning for students.
