FRAMINGHAM – Walsh Vice Principal James Bergeron, who has been interim King Elementary Principal this year, will become the permanent principal at the Nobscot neighborhood school.
“I have accepted the position of Principal at King Elementary. Though I am very excited about this new chapter in my life, I will miss my Walsh colleagues and middle school students. Walsh has been a very special place to me – it is an amazing school and a truly great place for students and families. The partnerships with families over the years has become such a strength of Walsh. I feel lucky to have been a part of this community,” said Bergeron in an email to Walsh families.
Bergeron took over for King Elementary School Principal Allison Benabdallah who has been on leave since this spring. Benabdallah previously served as a vice principal at King Elementary before she was named principal in May 2020.
When Benabdallah was named principal, she was the fifth principal in six years at George P. King School since it re-opened as an elementary school.

The school’s 2019-2020 principal Dr. Marguerite Lackard took a leave of absence in the fall of 2019, and it was announced in January 2020 she would remain on leave through the end of the school year.
Bergeron assisted in a leadership role at the school during that school year.
Benebdallah came to King after serving as vice principal at Stapleton Elementary School. Prior to that she was a theatre arts teacher at Fuller Middle School in the district.
Principal Lucia Laguarda split her time between Hemenway Elementary and King Elementary when the K-5 school first opened.

Former Dunning Elementary principal Kim Taylor took over after her and stayed in the position from 2015-2018, until she left to become the head of the Dedham Public Schools preschool program.
Former Wilson Elementary Vice Principal John Maynard wa sthen hired to lead the school from 2018-2019, and left after one year.
Then Lackard was given the principal post for the 2019-2020 school year.
This class of 2019-2020 was the first class to graduate from re-opened elementary school on Water Street.
