Rams Secure Top Seed in Lacrosse Championship With Victory Over Worcester State 17-6

WORCESTER – The Framingham State University women’s lacrosse team avenged Thursday night’s loss to Worcester State with a 17-6 victory Saturday morning over the Lancers at Coughlin Field in Worcester.

With the victory, the Rams have secured the top seed and will host next week’s MASCAC Championship game.

Framingham State finished the regular season at 8-1.

Worcester State is now 5-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The first half was all Rams, as the visitors outscored Worcester State by a score of 11-4. Sophomore Lily Gendron (Lakeville.), junior Abby Lauzon (Lakeville, Mass.), senior Kylie Hill (Lunenburg), and sophomore Sarah DesVergnes (Limerick, Maine) scored the goals for the Lancers before the break. Tara Palermo had a first half hat trick to lead Framingham State.
• Framingham State continued to control the play after halftime, outscoring the Lancers 6-2 to secure the victory. Worcester State received goals from Shea Jarvis (Auburn) and Hannah Sledzieski (Northampton.) in the period, while Framingham State was led by a pair of tallies from Hanna McMahon.
• Hannah Allen got the victory in goal for Framingham State, recording 12 saves. Chloe O’Brien (Sturbridge.) took the loss for the Lancers after getting the start. In relief, Savanna Rosado (Milford.) made seven saves in 44 minutes.
• Hanna McMahon finished the game with four goals and an assist for the Rams, while Palermo finished with four goals including three in the first half.
• Hanna Guerin added three goals and an assist, while Kyra Lyons found the back of the net twice and Regan Fein assisted on three tallies.

UP NEXT:     The top seeded Rams will host second seed Westfield State on Saturday, May 1 at 7 p.m. in the MASCAC Championship game. 

The Rams, the Owls and the Lancers all finished the regular season atop the MASCAC standings, but the Rams and Owls advance to the championship game by virtue of the league’s tiebreaker.
