FRAMINGHAM – The Framingham State University softball team was defeated twice Sunday afternoon by Brandeis University by scores of 3-1 in non-conference action at Maple Street Field in Framingham.

Win the wins, Brandeis Owls remain undefeated at 8-0.

Framingham State falls to 17-5 overall. 

Game 1:  

In the opener, the Judges once again received a solid pitching performance from Sydney Goldman.  Goldman tossed her second shutout in as many days going the distance allowing just two hits with 13 strikeouts and two walks. 

The Judges, who were the home team in today’s games, plated the deciding run in the bottom of the fourth inning.  A sacrifice bunt put runners on second and third and Haley Nash followed with a sacrifice fly to deep center for the 1-0 lead.

The Rams had runners on in to the top of the fifth and sixth, but were unable to push across a run. 

The Judges added a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth to reach the final margin. 

Junior Laela Pepin took the loss for the Rams in the circle going three innings and allowing an earned run on three hits with a strikeout. 

Sophomore Ally Moran tossed three innings in relief and allowed two earned runs on two hits.

Game 2:  

In game two, the game was scoreless through four innings as the Rams Shannon Ward and the Judges Rebecca Guerci were solid in the circle. 

The Judges got on the board in the bottom of the fifth inning on a two run homer by Melissa Rothenberg. 

Brandeis added a single run in the bottom of the sixth on a Nash double to reach the final margin. 

Ward took the loss for the Rams going six innings allowing three earned runs on four hits with a strikeout and three walks. 

Guerci earned the victory in the circle going the distance allowing no runs on two hits with a strikeout and two walks.

UP NEXT: 
The Rams are back in action on Friday when they host Fitchburg State for a pair of games beginning at 3 p.m., while the Judges host Johnson & Wales on Saturday at noon.
