FRAMINGHAM – Framingham Police Chief Lester Baker and Framingham Deputy Police Chief Sean Riley attended the Stop Asian Hate rally in downtown Framingham today, March 27.
The event was organized by the New England Chinese American Alliance (NECAA) in conjunction with about 3 dozen other groups.
“It is critically important that our Asian community members know we are here to support them, and make sure they always feel safe in our community,” wrote Police on Twitter.
The rally started in Hopkinton and ended on the Boston Common.
It ran through the Boston Marathon route communities including Ashland, Framingham, Natick, Wellesley, Newton and Brookline.
It rally came after the deadly Atlanta shootings to mourn the loss of eight lives, including six Asian women, and to condemn the acts of violence and discrimination against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.
Attacks on individuals of Asian descent have increased during the coronavirus pandemic.
