FRAMINGHAM – The Framingham State University softball team swept a non-conference doubleheader with Suffolk University this afternoon at Maple Street Field in Framingham.
Framingham State took the first game coming from behind 2-1 and then took game two by a score of 8-4.
The Rams are now 4-0 this season.

Game 1 Summary:
In the opener, the Framingham State Rams took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning on an RBI single to center by sophomore Zoe Smyth (Cambridge, Mass.).
Suffolk tied the game in the top of the third inning on an RBI single to left center off the bat of sophomore Caitlin Murphy.
The FSU Rams took the lead for good in the bottom of the fifth inning. Junior Laela Pepin (Acushnet, Mass.) ripped a single to left center plating senior Camille Desrochers (Westford, Mass.) with the game-winning run.
The Suffolk Rams threatened in the top of the seventh with a runner on and one out, but sophomore Ally Moran (Wilmington, Mass.) was able to record a strikeout and ground out to end the game.
Moran earned the victory for the Rams improving to 2-0 on the young season as she tossed a complete game allowing one earned run on four hits with 10 strikeouts and a walk.
Senior Contance Phelan took the loss for Suffolk going five innings, allowing two runs, one earned, on five hits with four strikeouts.

GAME 2 summary:
The Suffolk Rams took the early lead in game two. Murphy led off the game with a triple to right and then came around to score on an RBI single off the bat of senior Ashley Zuilla.
Framingham State tied the game in the bottom of the second on an RBI sacrifice fly from Desrochers.
The FSU Rams took the lead for good with two runs in the bottom of the third. With the bases loaded, freshman Payton Ceglarski (Taunton, Mass.) worked a walk and then senior Kirsten Dick (Tewksbury, Mass.) scored on a wild pitch.
The Rams added three more in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI single by freshman Mercedes Jimenez (Cambridge, Mass.), a bases loaded hit by pitch and Jimenez scored on a wild pitch.
Suffolk got a run back in the top of the fifth on a sacrifice fly by freshman Ira Boci, before Framingham State added two more in the bottom of the inning including another RBI single from Jimenez.

Suffolk capped the scoring in the top of the seventh with a pair of runs to reach the final margin.
Jimenez finished game two 2-for-3 at the plate with two runs scored and two RBI, while sophomore Gwendolyn Carpenter (Ashley Falls, Mass.) and junior Laela Pepin (Acushnet, Mass.) also recorded two hits apiece.
Freshman Shannon Ward (Newport, RI) earned the victory on the mound going six and two thirds allowing four runs, three earned on 10 hits.
Kennedy Reyes took the loss for Suffolk going four and two thirds allowing three runs on five hits with six strikeouts.
The two teams will meet again tomorrow, March 1, for a pair of games at Maple Street Field beginning at noon.
