1 The City of Framingham for the first time released vaccine numbers for the community yesterday. More than 8,300 residents in the City of 70,000+ have been fully vaccinated compared to the more than 7,100 resident who have tested positive for the virus in the last year.

2. According to the Mayor’s public schedule, Mayor Yvonne Spicer will hold a community hour on Zoom today to discuss vaccines and underserved communities. Interim Health Director Alex DePalo will join her for the 5 to 6 p.m. event.

4. Today is National Freedom of Information Day. This week is National Sunshine Week.

Established in March 2005 by the American Society of News Editors, now known as the News Leaders Association, and supported by the Society of Professional Journalists and countless other news organizations, the week is reminder for government to be accountable and transparent, and to highlight the work journalists do to keep sunshine (or a spotlight) on the workings of local, state, and federal government.

5 Framingham Public Library & Literacy Unlimited is hosting a 12-week online class on civics and American history to help prepare individuals for the citizenship exam. The class starts today March 16 and runs through June 1 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on zoom.

A conversation leader will lead the class which you can access remotely by computer and phone. You must be at least an intermediate level English speaker to join the class. If you are interested, please contact fplmail4@minlib.net and you will be given the access code.
