BOSTON = The National Weather Service out of Boston/Norton has issued a red flag warning for Saturday, March 13 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and for Sunday, March 14 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly.
Any fires that start may spread rapidly and become difficult to extinguish.
The forecast calls for strong winds, low relative humidity, and dry vegetation, which will result in elevated fire danger.
For Sunday, the forecast is northwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 miles per hour.
Humidity will be dropping to between 30 and 40 percent, and temperatures will be in the upper 30s and 40s.
Outdoor burning is not recommended.
The state’s fire marshal noted the increased potential for brush fires earlier this week.
