FRAMINGHAM – Marguerite Ruth (McNeill) Drake of Framingham passed away peacefully on March 7, 2021 after a brief illness.

Born in Waltham, she was the daughter of the late Ralph F. and Ora G. (Wagner) McNeill.

Maggie grew up in Digby, Nova Scotia where she graduated from nursing school. She moved back to the US to work in nursing and met her husband, Robert. Bob and Maggie lived in Framingham for the entire 47 years they were married.

She was a nurse at Newton Wellesley Hospital and St. Patrick’s Manor in Framingham, before dedicating her time to running the family business, Chester Drake Sons.

Her Greatest joy after golf, was watching the antics of her six children, 23 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

Matriarch extraordinaire, she loved to hold court at large family gatherings sipping from her glass of chardonnay with extra ice.

Maggie is survived by her children, David R. Drake and his wife Marjorie of Brookline, NH, William R. Drake and his wife Loretta of Hingham, Michael L. Drake and his wife Judy Jo of N. Kingston, RI formerly of Framingham, and Gregory P. Drake and his wife Sarah of Franklin; sons-in-laws David Beattie of Nashua, NH and Kevin Moran of Brewster, formerly of Southborough.

Predeceased by her daughters, Judith Beattie and Linda Lou Moran.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Thursday, March 11, 2021 from 5-7 p.m. at the Norton Funeral Home, 53 Beech Street (Corner of Union Ave.) Framingham.

A private funeral Mass at St. Bridget Church will be celebrated and private internment at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
