HOLLISTON – James William Palladino 88, of Port St. Lucie, Florida and Holliston, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2021.

Jim devoted his life to his family as a loving brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather and also great-grandfather.

Jim served in the Navy during the Korean War and he always had an American Flag flying at his home.

He graduated from Worcester State College with a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in education. His life’s work was dedicated to educating children, first as a teacher and then as an Elementary School Principal in the Holliston School System for over 30 years. His enthusiasm for teaching and learning touched many lives in Holliston. He truly cared about the teachers and students he served.

Jim was predeceased by his wife of 42 years, Mary E. (Picone) Palladino, by his daughter Janice Higgins, his sister Anna Bunn and her husband Bill, two brothers; Dr. Joseph Palladino and Michael Palladino, and his close brother-in-law, Francis Mahoney.

He is survived by his sister Raphaella Mahoney (Port St. Lucie, FL), his sister-in-law Maryanne Palladino, wife of Dr. Joseph Palladino (Holliston, MA), as well as by his children and their spouses including Harold Higgins, husband of Janice (Ashland), John and Annmarie Higgins (North Smithfield, RI), James and Andrea Palladino (Medway), William Palladino and Danielle Aievoli (Fort Pierce, FL).

Jim was so proud of his grandchildren: Matthew Higgins and his wife Kelsey, Michael Higgins, Jack and Luke Higgins, Gianna and Alyssa Palladino. He was overjoyed to be a great-grandfather to Fiona Higgins and her step-brother Shane and was very close to his many nieces and nephews.

Jim enjoyed the simple things in life such as working in his garage and around his yard, camping, boating, and especially attending family celebrations. He will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a charity of your choice.

Due to current safety guidelines, the family will be holding private funeral services.

Arrangements by Matarese Funeral home in Ashland.
