NATICK – Hollis “Peter” E. Wilde, Jr, (AKA as ‘Perfect Peter’ but more affectionately our Papa), age 86 of Pocasset, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on October 9, 2020.
Peter’s partner in everything during this special lifetime was his beloved wife of 64 years, Diane (Casali) Wilde.
He was a graduate of Wellesley High School in 1953 and Burdett College where he served as senior class president.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army for two years.
Coaching was a major accomplishment for Peter as he was able to instill a strong work ethic, team spirit and a sense of pride and achievement to not only his own children but countless other children.
He was active in Natick Little League and Natick Comets for many years.
After 35 years as a purchasing agent, Peter retired from New England Instrument Company in Natick. Peter was a long time Board Member of the former Natick Federal Savings Bank (Mutual One).
He moved to Cape Cod in 2000 where Perfect Peter was able to further perfect his golf game, enjoy the sunset and boats on the back deck, and volunteer with the local food pantry. He was an enthusiastic sports fan with many a yell at the TV.
Though Peter could be intimidating with his habit of standing close to you while talking in his commanding voice, he was a gentleman through and through, a decent, kind and selfless man who was highly respected and loved. He was always at the ready to lend exemplary guidance and support to his children and especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his brother Frederick Wilde of NH, and five children, Jeffrey and his wife Carol of Upton, Gregory and his wife Cathie of Medway, Holly and her husband Steven of Uxbridge, Andrew and his wife Lauren of Milford, and Amy and her husband John of Natick. He was grandfather to Amanda, Cory and his wife Meagan, Peter, Taylor, Drew, Aidan, Jayme, and Luke and great- grandfather to Matthew, Maeve, Max, and Marcus. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A wake will be held celebrating this remarkable man at John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street, in Natick on Wednesday, October 14 from 3-7 p.m.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
A private interment will take place in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.
