FRAMINGHAM – The Framingham School Committee will be asked to approve a revised 2020-21 school calendar on Wednesday, August 5.
School was to have started on Wednesday, September 2, but the School Committee voted to delay that date, when it voted last week to start the school year remotely, due to the coronavirus.
The “first day of school for remote learning is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday September 8,” according to school administration.

“The 2020-2021 calendar as approved by the School Committee in February 2020 pre-COVID is now out of date. This calendar will be modified in the weeks ahead to increase professional development days by reducing the number of school days for this
year in accordance with DESE guidance,” wrote the Tremblay administration to the School Committee.
“The September 8th estimate to start remote learning was included in the initial Back to School Plan prior to DESE’s decision to reduce the school year from 180 days to 170 days. A revised calendar which meets the needs of the new directive, including a proposed date for the start of remote learning, is in the final stages and is on the agenda as part of the August 5th School Committee meeting,” said Framingham Public Schools to SOURCE today, August 4.
SOURCE will update this report with a proposed draft calendar when it is available.
