MARLBOROUGH – Mayor Arthur G. Vigeant and Director of Recreation Charles Thebado announced Memorial Beach will be opening for the Summer 2020 season on Friday, June 26.
However, Memorial Beach will be closed on Monday, June 29,for previously scheduled water herbicide treatment.

The beach is opening, but there are coronavirus pandemic rules.
Beach Protocol
• Beach visitors are asked to set up at least 12’ apart from other groups on their towels, limit groups to no more than 10 people, and follow COVID-19 Beach Re-opening guidelines set by the Marlborough Board of Health and the State.
• Patrons are encouraged to wear face coverings when unable to maintain a 6’ distance from others (except when swimming). It is not the responsibility of city staff or lifeguards to enforce social distancing or the wearing of face coverings.
• The beach will be open from 11 a.m. to 6:45 p.m., and gates will be locked when the beach is closed. Anyone who chooses to swim outside of these hours is doing so at their own risk.

• Bathrooms at Memorial Beach will open and maintained beginning on Wednesday, June 24.
• Marlborough Department of Public Works staff will visit the beach twice daily for barrel emptying and cleanup to ensure all residents have a positive and healthy experience. However, it is asked that residents clean up after themselves.

Parking and Accepted Activities Protocol
• This year, Memorial Beach is reserved for residents of Marlborough only. Residents must provide a license and registration showing the same City of Marlborough address prior to entrance.
• Beach Parking is prohibited on Simpson Road, Paquin Drive, and Miles Standish Drive. Parking regulations will be strictly enforced.
• Dropping off swimmers in the handicap accessible parking lot is prohibited.
• Swimming is allowed only in the Memorial Beach roped off area.
• Alcohol, tobacco products, or drug use are not allowed anywhere on public property.
