Barbara J. “Joan” (Ruddy) Dameri, 88, a longtime resident of Framingham and most recently Marlborough, died Sunday, April 7, 2024 after a period of declining health.  Born in Braintree, she was the daughter of Irish immigrants, the late James & Elizabeth (Fullerton) Ruddy, and the beloved wife of the late Ernest J. Dameri.

Joan was born and raised in Braintree and was a 1955 graduate of Braintree High School. She went to work, and taught at a dance school where Ernest and his friends had gone to meet women. Needless to say, it worked and Joan and Ernest were married in 1961. They settled in Framingham, where Ernest ran the family store, Dameri’s Market, while Joan stayed home and raised their three boys.

A devoted wife and mother, there wasn’t anything Joan wouldn’t do for her sons.  From 5am practices, to hockey games all over New England, she was there. She loved to sing and dance, and took part in the St. Bridget Church Shows.  She enjoyed gardening and spending time with family, especially at their summer home in So. Yarmouth on Cape Cod.

Joan is survived by her three sons, Thomas M. of Framingham, James E. of Marlborough, and Michael P. & his wife Kristie of Southborough, her granddaughters, Lindsey and Ashlee, and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband Ernest, Joan was predeceased by her siblings, Mary Smith, Austin Ruddy, James Ruddy, and Gordon Ruddy.

Family and friends will honor and remember Joan’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St. Framingham on Friday, April 12th from 4-8PM. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday morning in St. Bridget Church, 830 Worcester Rd., Framingham at 10 o’clock. Interment will follow in St. Tarcisius Cemetery, Framingham.
