FRAMINGHAM – Briana Dornan Nichols, Au.D, has joined The Learning Center for the Deaf (TLC) as Associate Director for its Public School Partnership Program (PSP).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She previously worked at TLC from 1999 to 2009 as an Educational Audiologist. She was also a multi-site manager at Boston Children’s Hospital in the Diagnostic Audiology Department from 2007-2022, where she specialized in advanced diagnostics and electrophysiology measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are so excited to welcome Briana back to TLC in a leadership role for our Public School Partnership Program,\u201d said Lydia Col\u00f3n, Au.D., Director of PSP and TLC\u2019s Audiology Clinic. \u201cDr. Nichols is extremely knowledgeable about TLC\u2019s service area and community; we are looking forward to strengthening our relationships with districts around the state to provide high-quality services to deaf and hard of hearing children in mainstream schools.\u00a0 Having her on our team is an asset and we are lucky to have her.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A native of Pembroke, she has authored several publications, including journal articles and book chapters, related to identification, evaluation, and monitoring of pediatric hearing loss. She has also presented research regarding pediatric hearing topics regionally, nationally, and internationally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PSP addresses the specific needs of students with hearing aids and cochlear implants in educational settings, providing a support system for monitoring deaf and hard of hearing students\u2019 academic and developmental progress. The program currently supports more than 75 school districts across Massachusetts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The team of Educational Audiologists and Teachers of the Deaf consult with parents and faculty to facilitate the development of appropriate educational plans, meet with individual students, observe students in academic and social settings, and identify classroom modifications and teaching practices to support participation and learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
