FRAMINGHAM – The City of Framingham’s Public Information Officer Ryan Egan has given his notice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He will leave as of February 1, 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Egan came to Framingham from the City of Marlborough, where he was the Executive Secretary to Mayor Arthur Vigeant. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Marlborough, Egan\u2019s position administering various aspects of the city\u2019s website, managing social media content creation, and working on press-related matters. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Egan also held staff positions in Randolph\u2019s Department of Public Health and the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Egan is currently serving in his third term as an elected member of the Town of Randolph\u2019s Council. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Egan is the third person in the Mayor’s office to resign in 2022. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Mayor’s Chief of staff resigned and returned work with Senate President Karen Spilka. <\/a><\/strong>The Mayor chose not to replace the position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Mayor’s Citizen Participation Officer hired from the Framingham Public School district resigned and return to the school district.<\/a><\/strong> The position has not been replaced yet but interviews have been happening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Chief Information Officer position has not been posted yet. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The salary range for the city\u2019s spokesperson was posted in January 2022 as $72,000 to $93,000 a year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CIO \u201cperforms responsible professional work providing information on behalf of the City through various communication outlets to diverse audiences. Works with the Mayor on strategic communication initiatives for the City,\u201d according to the job description.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Essential Functions, per when the position was posted in January 2022, included:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u25aa Directs the implementation of an integrated communications strategy for the City incorporating media broadcasts, written materials, social media trends and applications. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u25aa Coordinates publicity for the Mayor by arranging press conferences, preparing, reviewing and evaluating press releases. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u25aa Assists the Mayor in overseeing development and completion of professional communication materials such as annual reports, professional image brochures and progressive communication materials. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u25aa Oversees the creation of in-depth multi-media productions to highlight the City\u2019s services, activities and special promotions through website development, television and social media. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u25aa Collaborates closely with the Director of Community and Economic Development on website content and design, social media outlets and other communication initiatives to enhance community and business relationships. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u25aa Participates and plays an active role in all neighborhood and community meetings hosted by the Mayor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u25aa Acts as spokesperson for the City. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u25aa Serves as the City\u2019s Emergency Information\/Communication Officer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u25aa Identifies City projects and programs for positive media coverage potential and facilitates deliberative strategies to promote these activities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u25aa Works with Division\/Department Heads to develop methods of communication to be most effective with stakeholders. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u25aa Build and foster long-term working relationships with various publics of importance including media, members of the community, public affairs offices and other organizations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u25aa Oversee day-to-day operations of specific year-round communications programs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u25aa Respond to media requests for information and facilitate media interviews with spokespeople, and other staff. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u25aa Develops talking points for Executive Speakers on behalf of City. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u25aa Monitors and reviews departmental communications to external audiences to ensure that all departments are sending a consistent message to the targeted public. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u25aa Works in partnership with the Human Resources Director on promoting the City as a leading employer through various outlets include website, social media, newsletters, employee testimonials, podcasts and special events. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u25aa Creates\/maintains web content for divisions\/departments that do not have an individual available to enter web\/social media updates. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u25aa Integrates City website and offsite content (City Facebook page, Twitter feed, Socrata Open Data Service) to create a unified \u201cportal\u201d for information access; creates and maintains Social Media Policy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u25aa Serves as the focal point for implementing new channels of communication, which involve new technology (mobile apps, RSS feeds, and podcasts) to communicate with citizens and officials. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u25aa Maintains and creates content for subscriber list distribution (\u201cNotify Me\u201d). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u25aa Participates in planning new web services developing standards and evaluating and implementing content management solutions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u25aa Interfaces with internal and external users including residents regarding new web services, requests\/complaints. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
