ASHLAND – Saturday was the first-ever Ashland Hometown Parade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The parade began off Pleasant Street near the MBTA parking lot. It ventured down a sparse crowd on Pleasant Street, down Tilton & Cherry Street, and eventually to Stone Park, where there was a bigger crowd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There were more than 30 participants in the parade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mission of the parade, according to organizers, was to “unite Ashland citizens in a spirit of creative fun and hometown pride.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The parade began with police motorcycles, and Ashland Fire Trucks, with their sirens blazing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There were Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and Ashland MOMS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Ashland Gabe Mujerian rode in a yellow convertible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ashland Residents For Equity & Action (AREA) marched, as did Ashland Indians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Select Board member Steve Mitchell drove a red convertible in the parade, with passenger Select Board member Joseph J Magnani, Jr. in the passenger seat. Directly behind them, was Ashland Town Manager driving a red Jeep, with Select Board member Robert K. Scherer in the passenger seat with Select Board chair Brandi Kinsman and Select Board member Yolanda Greaves in back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Junkyard Jammers performed along the route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The only entry from Ashland High was a group of students promoting the Pumpkin Fair later this month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other organizations including the MetroWest Regional Transit Authority, the Senior Center, The Ashland Lions, The Ashland Farmers Market, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
