FRAMINGHAM – The Framingham Flyers girls varsity volleyball team dominated home court, where they claimed their first win of the season in a 3-0 match against Cambridge Latin High School on Friday night, September 30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a devastating loss against Natick High, the team was determined to clean up their act for the remainder of the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the first set the Flyers were first to add to the board taking the 6-3 lead against the Falcons. Cambridge tied the score 7-7 but Framingham quickly took back control of the court adding to their score for the 15-10 lead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The score slowly crept up throughout the frame with the Flyers remaining at the advantage. The Falcons managed to put four more points to their score before the Flyers took the first set win 25-17 and the 1-0 lead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The game intensified heading into the second set and both teams immediately tacked points on the board tying the score 3-3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After more intense play and continuously trading off the leading score for the majority of the set, Framingham ran off with the lead, 17-13.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite Cambridge calling for a much needed time out, the Flyers never lost stamina and continued on with fiery aggression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Falcons managed to put 18 points on the board before Framingham took the second set win 25-18.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the now 2-0 lead, the Flyers knew they needed to remain focused and level headed if they wanted to secure their first win of the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Heading into the third set, both teams were locked in determined not to let their opponent win the set.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was a back and forth battle with both repeatedly tying the score until Framingham had enough and tallied back-to-back-to-back points for the 14-10 score and officially taking the lead for the rest of the frame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the last minutes of the game, the Falcons were able to put a final five points to their score before Framingham claimed the third set victory 25-18, and the 3-0 win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the win, head coach Emily Viti remarks how proud she is of her team and the complete turnaround playing in today’s game from last week’s losses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She acknowledged the previous games played were heartbreaking losses but they weren\u2019t total losses in her book.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI said to them that even though on paper we lost, there were a lot of wins in that game that we had to focus on to bring the fight into today,” said Coach Viti.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Watching them play yesterday, every ball they were struggling tooth and nail, crawling for anything they could get, and today they had so much more confidence,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the team\u2019s overall now 1-7, the Flyers will look to play in their next match October 6 when they will travel to Weymouth High School and face off against the Wildcats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
