Army, Jr. as Associate Justice of the Probate and Family Court yesterday, August 17.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAttorney Army\u2019s decades of experience representing clients in Probate and Family Court make him well-qualified for this appointment,\u201d&nbsp;said Governor Charlie&nbsp;Baker.&nbsp;\u201cI am pleased to submit his nomination to the Governor\u2019s Council for their advice and consent.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAttorney Army possesses a deep knowledge of not just the law, but also the importance and sensitivity of the matters that come before the Probate and Family Court,\u201d&nbsp;said Lt. Governor Karyn Polito.&nbsp;\u201cIf approved, I am confident he will serve the judiciary fairly and thoughtfully.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>[broadstreet zone=&#8221;53903&#8243;]<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;Probate and Family Court&nbsp;Department has jurisdiction over family-related and probate matters such as divorce, paternity, child support, custody, parenting time, adoption, termination of parental rights, abuse prevention and wills, estates, trusts, guardianships, conservatorships, and changes of name. The&nbsp;Probate and Family Court has&nbsp;51&nbsp;judges, including Chief Justice John D. Casey. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Judicial nominations are subject to the advice and consent of the Governor\u2019s Council. Applicants for judicial openings are reviewed by the Judicial Nominating Commission (JNC) and recommended to the governor. Governor&nbsp;Baker&nbsp;established the JNC in February 2015 pursuant to Executive Order 558, a non-partisan, non-political Commission composed of volunteers from a cross-section of the Commonwealth&#8217;s diverse population to screen judicial applications. Twenty-one members were later appointed to the JNC in April 2015.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>[broadstreet zone=&#8221;59982&#8243;]<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Army, Jr. began his law career in 1996 as an associate at Army &amp; Army, LLC, managing and litigating a variety of matters in a general practice firm. He then began his own firm, Army &amp; Lee P.C., in 2012 and managed the firm\u2019s probate and family law division, representing clients throughout Massachusetts in Probate and Family Court. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Attorney Army served as partner and co-owner in his next firm, Army &amp; Kirtsy, LLC, in 2015 and represented clients in high conflict domestic relationship matters while managing the probate and family law division.
