FRAMINGHAM – Framingham Parks & Recreation closed Waushakum Beach on Friday, August 12, for its second adventure camp of the summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program – which costs $120 for the day – give participants a chance to do archery, fishing, kayaking & canoeing and more. The 6-hour program is for boys & girls ages 9-14.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The night before the camp Framingham Parks & Recreation announced the water at the beach (along with the water at Learned’s Pond) tested for e coli bacteria and that swimming was prohibited.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was the first time that beach had failed a water quality test all season. Parks & Recreation said the water was safe for the water activities for the camp, despite the signs posted about the bacteria at the beach on Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ironically, fishing and launching of kayaks and canoes are prohibited at Lake Waushakum beach but are allowed during the city’s adventure camp. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The participants even fished behind the conservation fence, that the department erected earlier this season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
