FRAMINGHAM – Senate President Karen Spilka secured $150,000 for a new Technology & Learning Center for the Framingham Public Library in the Commonwealth’s fiscal year 2023 budget.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Technology & Learning Center at Framingham Public Library will “create a flexible, innovative, collaborative learning space that will provide instructor-led and librarian-led classes and sessions, as well as patron-driven learning and exploration,” explained Library Director Lena Kilburn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Framingham Public Library Foundation, a 50c13 organization, has been raising funds for the new technology & learning center. The Noche de Fiesta<\/a><\/strong> held last month was a fundraiser for the Foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Center “will provide the latest user-focused technology, including workstations, presentation and instruction tools, and collaborative workspaces, and software and hardware designed to inspire and enrich the lives of visitors,” said Kilburn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We look forward to continuing to build on FPL’s track record of excellence in programming through this space with the goal of providing new knowledge, marketable skills and abilities and facilitating connection and creativity. Our staff of expert professional librarians joined by a community of first-rate educators will ensure that the Technology Learning Center offers transformative learning for all,” said Kilburn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new Center will be located at the main Framingham Library on Lexington Street, next to the new teen room on the second floor. The new teen room at the main Library is scheduled to open in the fall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
