FRAMINGHAM – Framingham Police are warning residents about an electricity scam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Framingham resident reported a larceny at 5:26 p.m. on Monday, August 8.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An individual on Waverley Street was told the electricity would be shut off, said Lt. Rachel Mickens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The individual was “scammed into depositing $900 into a Bitcoin machine,” said Lt. Mickens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00a0Police remind residents that utility companies will not ask individuals to pay their electricity bills with Bitcoin. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If someone shows up at your house and threatens to turn off the electricity, call your electricity company before paying anything, said police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
