FRAMINGHAM – Massachusetts\u2019s\u00a0average gas price is down 8 cents from last week\u00a0($4.92)<\/em>, averaging\u00a0$4.84\u00a0per gallon, according to AAA Northeast, which has an office in Framingham.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today\u2019s price is 10 cents lower than a month ago\u00a0($4.94)<\/em>, and $1.84 higher than July 5, 2021 ($3.00)<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Massachusetts\u2019s average gas price is 4 cents higher than the national average.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The national average for a gallon of gasoline fell to $4.80, down eight cents over the past week. The primary reason for the decline is lower demand at the pump as fewer people fueled up over the past two weeks. The lull, however, could end with the arrival of the summer driving season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDomestic gasoline demand dipped recently, which took some of the pressure off of pump prices. About 80% of stations are now selling regular for under $5 a gallon,\u201d said Mary Maguire, AAA Northeast Director of Public and Government Affairs, in a press release. “But July is typically the heaviest month for demand as more Americans hit the road, so this trend of easing prices may very well be short-lived.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AAA Northeast\u2019s July 5 survey of fuel prices found the current national average to be 8 cents lower than last week\u00a0($4.88)<\/em>, averaging\u00a0$4.80\u00a0<\/strong>a gallon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today\u2019s national average price is 4 cents lower than a month ago\u00a0($4.84)<\/em>, and $1.67 higher than this day last year\u00a0($3.13)<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
