{"id":7061,"date":"2020-04-25T18:01:00","date_gmt":"2020-04-25T22:01:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/framinghamsource.com\/?p=7061"},"modified":"2020-04-26T16:11:57","modified_gmt":"2020-04-26T20:11:57","slug":"framingham-chef-uses-first-united-methodist-kitchen-to-make-meals-for-those-in-need","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/framinghamsource.com\/index.php\/2020\/04\/25\/framingham-chef-uses-first-united-methodist-kitchen-to-make-meals-for-those-in-need\/","title":{"rendered":"UPDATED: Framingham Chef Uses First United Methodist Kitchen To Make Meals For Those in Need"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>By Sabetha LaFontant<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>SOURCE intern &amp; UMass Boston student<\/strong><\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>[broadstreet zone=&#8221;51611&#8243;]<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>FRAMINGHAM &#8211; Using the kitchen of the First United Methodist Church in Framingham, a woman is creating meals for those in need and those too busy to cook during the COVID-19 crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Framingham resident Diana Palmer decided she could help families struggling through the pandemic by making meals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs a laid-off chef manager and person of deep faith I found a way to keep busy and provide support in my local area,&#8221; said Palmer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the support of the First United Methodist Church, Palmer labored 100 meals, out of the church\u2019s kitchen within the first week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>[broadstreet zone=&#8221;59983&#8243;]<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nearly a month after her \u201cFaith in Food\u201d meal program started, Palmer now makes more than 200 meals a week on her own. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Framingham resident Deborah Capozzoli has been creating homemade desserts and dropping them off at the church for the meal delivereies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tuesday through Saturday, Palmer creates new entrees, including chicken cordon bleu, American chop suey, and shrimp scampi. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The cost per entree is $5 or free to those who cant afford it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Palmer\u2019s donation page for \u201cFaith in Food\u201d was first set to $600 and through the generosity of many donors, that goal was achieved. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now with an ever-growing demand to prepare more meals, Palmer has set a new goal raise $1,000. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>[broadstreet zone=&#8221;58610&#8243;]<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Palmer says almost half the meals goes to families in need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The First United Methodist Church has stepped in to offset some costs, deciding \u201cthis is a community issue. It doesn\u2019t matter the cost,&#8221; said Palmer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Framingham resident not only crafts fresh meals but also delivers meals herself, Her deliveries take place from 4 and 5 p.m.and  then she returns to the church for pick-ups from 5 to 6 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Palmers initial love for cooking started at a home economics class at the former Framingham North High School. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She continues her love from cooking throughout local restaurants and through cooking for First United Methodist Church\u2019s community events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Orders for meals must be placed by 5 p.m. on Sunday.
