WORCESTER – \u00a0The Framingham State University baseball team was swept Saturday by Worcester State by scores of 4-3 and 9-1\u00a0in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action\u00a0at Lyons Diamond in Worcester.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the wins, Worcester State improves to 10-3 in the Conference. The Lancers are now 16-11 overall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Framingham State drops to 9-19 overall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

HOW IT HAPPENED: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Game 1: Worcester State 4, Framingham State 3 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • The Lancers capitalized on a Ram error to score the first run of the game in the bottom of the third inning.\u00a0<\/li>
  • Worcester extended the lead to 3-0 with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI double from Chris Ausiello and a sacrifice fly by Tom Halliwell.\u00a0<\/li>
  • The Rams closed the gap to 3-2 in the top of the fifth when\u00a0Ryan Boyle\u00a0reached on an error that allowed\u00a0Lucas Basile\u00a0and\u00a0Evan Kirkpatrick\u00a0to score.\u00a0<\/li>
  • Halliwell’s second sacrifice fly of the game pushed the lead back to 4-2 in the bottom of the sixth.\u00a0<\/li>
  • The Rams capitalized on another Lancer miscue to pull within one in the top of the seventh, but that was as close as they would get.\u00a0<\/li>
  • Boyle and\u00a0Kennedy Wilson\u00a0each picked up a pair of hits in the game.\u00a0<\/li>
  • Vincent\u00a0LoGuidice\u00a0took the loss for the\u00a0Rams\u00a0going five innings allowing three runs, none earned, on four hits with two strikeouts.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Game 2: Worcester State 9, Framingham State 1 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • In game two, the Lancers plated nine runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to\u00a0open up\u00a0a large lead. The Lancers received two RBI apiece in the inning from Anthony\u00a0Iamarone, Brett Blackwell and Sean Devin.\u00a0<\/li>
    • The Rams plated their lone run of the game in the top of the seventh when Wilson scored on a double play ball.\u00a0<\/li>
    • Ben Smith earned the win for the\u00a0Lancers\u00a0going five shutout innings allowing just one hit.\u00a0<\/li>
    • Jack Foley\u00a0took the loss for the Rams going three innings and allowing seven runs, five earned, on six\u00a0hits.T\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n
