{"id":67432,"date":"2022-04-10T10:30:00","date_gmt":"2022-04-10T14:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/framinghamsource.com\/?p=67432"},"modified":"2022-04-10T13:46:31","modified_gmt":"2022-04-10T17:46:31","slug":"framingham-traffic-commission-data-shows-speeding-not-an-issue-on-beaver-street","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/framinghamsource.com\/index.php\/2022\/04\/10\/framingham-traffic-commission-data-shows-speeding-not-an-issue-on-beaver-street\/","title":{"rendered":"Framingham Traffic Commission: Data Shows Speeding Not An Issue on Beaver Street"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>By Ashlyn Kelly<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>***<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>[broadstreet zone=&#8221;54526&#8243;]<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>FRAMINGHAM &#8211; The Framingham Traffic Commission briefly discussed speeding concerns on Beaver Street during its March 21 meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Framingham Traffic Commission Chair William Sedewitz said the Commission was requested to take \u201canother look&#8221; at speeding after it collected data in March and in September of 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More data was collected between February 1-2 of 2022 and  \u201cvolumes are up on Beaver Street,\u201d but speeds did not change \u201cappreciably.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The posted speed limit on Beaver Street was 35 miles per hour in March of 2020. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was lowered to 30 miles per hour in mid-2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>[broadstreet zone=&#8221;58893&#8243;]<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The average speed in 2020 was 28 and 29 miles per hour and it was the same again when data was collected in February 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 85th percentile speed, or the speed of which 85% of the vehicles traveled at or less, increased by one mile per hour in one direction and two miles per hour in the other direction, according to Sedewitz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSo it wasn&#8217;t particularly significant,\u201d added Sedewitz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Traffic Commission took no action on the matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>***<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Ashlyn Kelly is a Spring 2022 SOURCE intern.
