{"id":66635,"date":"2022-04-02T15:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-04-02T19:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/framinghamsource.com\/?p=66635"},"modified":"2022-04-02T14:53:19","modified_gmt":"2022-04-02T18:53:19","slug":"natick-high-22nd-in-state-for-ap-test-scores","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/framinghamsource.com\/index.php\/2022\/04\/02\/natick-high-22nd-in-state-for-ap-test-scores\/","title":{"rendered":"Natick High 22nd in State For AP Test Scores"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p id=\"block-8e01bf31-3a45-4b1e-a161-e96302c3d92a\"><strong><br>[broadstreet zone=&#8221;53230&#8243;]<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-9e863bb8-e8a2-45c0-b2ee-eed2c214ce44\">NATICK &#8211; While <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/framinghamsource.com\/index.php\/2022\/04\/01\/for-2nd-consecutive-year-massachusetts-students-lead-nation-in-ap-scores\/\">Massachusetts students are #1 for the second consecutive year for Advanced Placement (AP) test results<\/a><\/strong>, students at Natick High finished 22nd in the Commonwealth for test scores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-131308d8-acd3-4176-9631-8172db3fb4c6\">In 2021, 2020, 2018, and 2016, Massachusetts\u2019 graduating classes have had the nation\u2019s highest percentage of students scoring a 3 or higher on at least one AP test, according to the College Board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A score of 3 or above on an AP exam shows a student\u2019s capability to complete work for an introductory college-level course in that subject area, according to the College Board, which administers the AP tests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>in Massachusetts, Dover-Sherborn High had the highest percentage of students receiving a 3 or higher on AP exams with 94.4%<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-8b31eff6-fe4a-4acb-8e76-d4a5dbcfea4e\">In 2021, 824 AP exams tests (not students but tests) were taken at Natick High, according to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary &amp; Secondary Education (DESE).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Out of those 824 tests, 84% scored a 3 or higher, placed Natick High 22nd in the Commonwealth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other MetroWest communities in the top 20 were:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Lincoln-Sudbury at #2 at 93.9%<\/li><li>Wayland High at #6 at 92.4%<\/li><li>Hopkinton High at #9 at 89.8%<\/li><li>Ashland High at #13 with 87.5%<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-4f2c97a5-ba12-4f85-ba6d-0754362257e0\">Wellesley High was at 29th, with neighboring Framingham at 55th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-ed88b90d-3460-4a0d-9c6d-e7beca25e3f0\"><strong>[broadstreet zone=&#8221;54526&#8243;]<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-bc1a82d9-705a-4ceb-a31b-ad4252f1ae5d\">Of those 824 Natick High AP tests administered in 2021, 245 tests scored a 5, the highest score, with 262 scoring a 4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One hundred and 86 of the tests scored a 3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Only 36 tests scored a 1, the lowest score, with 96 tests receiving a score of 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That means just 16% of the students received a 1 or 2 on the AP Exam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\" id=\"block-1a41f287-e0a3-4964-a525-9d1515322154\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/framinghamsource.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Copy-of-photography-1-791x1024.jpg\" alt=\"This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is Copy-of-photography-1-791x1024.jpg\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-07d31a2a-600e-413e-845e-7d3f3e359cac\">Students take AP courses in high school, in part, for the chance to earn college credit and placement from a score of 3 or higher on an AP Exam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-c4867690-4f6c-4d76-870d-c960077bb8e2\"><a href=\"https:\/\/research.collegeboard.org\/media\/pdf\/new-analyses-ap-scores-1-and-2.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">New data<\/a>&nbsp;show the benefits of taking AP courses and exams, including for students who score a 1 or 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\" id=\"block-19d6ae1d-c1db-4567-8c5e-df4dc2e77433\"><li>AP students from all backgrounds, including those with average scores of 1 or 2, are more likely to enroll in a four-year college compared to academically similar students who did not take AP.<\/li><li>Students who earn AP scores of 2 are well prepared to succeed in introductory college courses.
