{"id":65815,"date":"2022-03-25T11:35:00","date_gmt":"2022-03-25T15:35:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/framinghamsource.com\/?p=65815"},"modified":"2022-03-25T11:40:53","modified_gmt":"2022-03-25T15:40:53","slug":"massdot-to-begin-2-year-11-million-reconstruction-of-union-avenue-project-march-28","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/framinghamsource.com\/index.php\/2022\/03\/25\/massdot-to-begin-2-year-11-million-reconstruction-of-union-avenue-project-march-28\/","title":{"rendered":"MassDOT To Begin 2-Year, $11 Million Reconstruction of Union Avenue Project March 28"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>[broadstreet zone=&#8221;59983&#8243;]<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>FRAMINGHAM &#8211; The Massachusetts Department of Transportation will begin a 2-year long, $11.34 million reconstruction project of Union Avenue starting Monday, March 28.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project involves improvements to\u00a0Union\u00a0Avenue\u00a0from Proctor Street to Main Street, with limited work on intersecting local roadways, according to the MassDOT spokesperson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Specifically, the proposed improvements include full pavement and sidewalk reconstruction, traffic signal improvements, bicycle accommodations, warning and signing and pavement markings,&#8221; said the MassDOT spokesperson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The existing traffic signal at Mt. Wayte\u00a0Avenue\u00a0will be reconstructed and new traffic signals will be constructed at the\u00a0Union\u00a0Avenue\u00a0intersections with Lincoln Street and Walnut Street,&#8221; said MassDOT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>[broadstreet zone=&#8221;59945&#8243;]<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>E. T. &amp; L Corp. was awarded the $11,340,877\u00a0project on October 6, 2021.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Crews are anticipated to begin roadway work next week,\u00a0March 28, 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project is anticipated to be completed in April 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The current schedule (Monday through Friday) shows work will take place between\u00a0Union\u00a0Avenue\u00a0at the Main Street and the\u00a0Union\u00a0Avenue\/Mt Wayte\u00a0Avenue\u00a0intersection.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The work will consist of excavating test pits, installation of drainage structures, and curb removal at the intersection of\u00a0Union\u00a0Avenue\u00a0and Main Street, said MassDOT. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>[broadstreet zone=&#8221;59982&#8243;]<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Traffic impacts will include lane and shoulder closures during daytime hours of\u00a07 a.m. to 4 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Traffic control devices will be utilized, along with police details to control traffic around the work zone.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When there is not enough room for two lanes of traffic, police details will control alternating traffic on\u00a0Union\u00a0Avenue\u00a0through the work zone, said the MassDOT spokesperson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to the MassDOT work, &#8220;utility companies are working on relocating utility poles along\u00a0Union\u00a0Avenue\u00a0and Eversource Gas is relocating gas at intersection of Buckminster and\u00a0Union\u00a0Avenue.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"712\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/framinghamsource.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Copy-of-5K-Run-Walk-Flyer-2-712x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-64972\" srcset=\"https:\/\/framinghamsource.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Copy-of-5K-Run-Walk-Flyer-2-712x1024.jpg 712w, https:\/\/framinghamsource.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Copy-of-5K-Run-Walk-Flyer-2-209x300.jpg 209w, https:\/\/framinghamsource.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Copy-of-5K-Run-Walk-Flyer-2-768x1104.jpg 768w, https:\/\/framinghamsource.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Copy-of-5K-Run-Walk-Flyer-2-1068x1536.jpg 1068w, https:\/\/framinghamsource.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Copy-of-5K-Run-Walk-Flyer-2-1424x2048.jpg 1424w, https:\/\/framinghamsource.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Copy-of-5K-Run-Walk-Flyer-2-scaled.jpg 1781w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 712px) 100vw, 712px\" \/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[broadstreet zone=&#8221;59983&#8243;] FRAMINGHAM &#8211; The Massachusetts Department of Transportation will begin a 2-year long, $11.34 million reconstruction project of Union Avenue starting Monday, March 28.
