Myrtle Beach, S.C. – The Framingham State University baseball team\u00a0opened their action at the Ripken experience this evening and were defeated 6-5 and 5-1 by Mt. Aloysius\u00a0in non-conference doubleheader action this evening at Griffith Field in South Carolina\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Framingham State is now 0-5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

HOW IT HAPPENED:  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Game 1:  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • In the opener, after a pair of scoreless innings, Mt. Aloysius tallied single runs in the bottom of the third and fourth to take a 2-0 lead. \u00a0\u00a0<\/li>
  • The Rams cut the deficit in half in the top of the fifth.\u00a0Steven Burbank\u00a0singled and moved to second on a wild pitch.\u00a0Matthew Shaver\u00a0followed with a\u00a0base hit\u00a0allowing Burbank to score from second.\u00a0<\/li>
  • Mt. Aloysius threatened in the bottom of the fifth, but Rams starter\u00a0Scott Nosky\u00a0worked out of the jam.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>
  • The Rams took the lead in the top of the sixth inning.\u00a0Chris Iannetta\u00a0reached on an error and\u00a0Robert Johnston\u00a0followed with a double putting\u00a0runners\u00a0on second and third.\u00a0Ryan Boyle\u00a0delivered a three-run homer to right putting the Rams on top 4-2.\u00a0<\/li>
  • The Rams added a single run in the top of the seventh on an Iannetta RBI single pushing the lead to 5-2.\u00a0<\/li>
  • Mt. Aloysius answered with four in the bottom of the seventh on a pair of homeruns to secure the\u00a0walk off\u00a0victory. Trapp Wentling struck first with a\u00a0three-run\u00a0shot and Jeremy\u00a0Iellimo\u00a0followed with the game-winning solo home run to right.\u00a0<\/li>
  • Nosky did not factor in the decision for the Rams, but went six innings allowing two runs, one earned, on six hits with seven strikeouts and no walks.\u00a0<\/li>
  • Iannetta went 3-for-4 in the game, while Boyle finished with a pair of hits and three RBI.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Game 2:  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • In game two, Mt. Aloysius got on the board with an RBI double from\u00a0Iellimo\u00a0in the top of the first inning.\u00a0<\/li>
    • The Rams answered with the tying run in the bottom of the second inning. Joey Fasolino led off with a double and Burbank followed with an RBI double knotting the game at 1-1.\u00a0<\/li>
    • Mt. Aloysius tallied three runs in the\u00a0to\u00a0of the fourth to\u00a0open up\u00a0a 4-1 lead and added a final run in the top of the seventh on a squeeze play to reach the final margin.\u00a0<\/li>
    • Anthony Panza\u00a0took the loss on the hill for the Rams going five innings allowing four earned runs on eight hits with six strikeouts and no walks.\u00a0<\/li>
    • Aidan Abernathy\u00a0tossed two innings of relief allowing one run on one\u00a0hits\u00a0with two strikeouts and a pair of walks.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n
