{"id":61088,"date":"2022-02-03T11:35:00","date_gmt":"2022-02-03T16:35:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/framinghamsource.com\/?p=61088"},"modified":"2022-02-03T11:34:58","modified_gmt":"2022-02-03T16:34:58","slug":"mbta-holding-hearings-on-fare-changes-in-february","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/framinghamsource.com\/index.php\/2022\/02\/03\/mbta-holding-hearings-on-fare-changes-in-february\/","title":{"rendered":"MBTA Holding Hearings on Fare Changes in February"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong><em>In full transparency, the following is a press release from the MBTA submitted to SOURCE media.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>***<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>[broadstreet zone=&#8221;59983&#8243;]<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>BOSTON \u2013 The MBTA will host&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mbta.com\/events\/2022-02-17\/public-hearing-mbta-fare-tariff-changes\" target=\"_blank\">a virtual public hearing<\/a>&nbsp;on Thursday, February 17, 2022, at 6 p.m. to discuss fare change proposals that aim to improve equity by closing gaps in existing fare structures for Reduced Fare Riders, to minimize pandemic-related revenue implications and budget uncertainties while increasing ridership where possible, and to simplify fare tariff rules as the MBTA\u2019s Fare Transformation Program moves forward. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These changes include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Making the 5-Day FlexPass on mTicket for Commuter Rail permanent;<\/li><li>Reducing the price of the 1-Day LinkPass;<\/li><li>Expanding second transfers on Local Buses, Express Buses, and\/or Subway; and<\/li><li>Proposed changes for Reduced Fare Riders that include:<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>o&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Introducing the 7-Day LinkPass for Reduced Fare Riders;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>o&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Introducing Monthly Passes for Reduced Fare Riders on Commuter Rail, Ferry, and Express Bus; and<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Expanding the validity of the LinkPass for Reduced Fare Riders to Commuter Rail Zone 1A and Inner Harbor Ferry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>[broadstreet zone=&#8221;54526&#8243;]<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The MBTA welcomes public comment on these proposals. During the meeting, attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and provide input.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The meeting will be held via Zoom. Members of the public can&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/zoom.us\/meeting\/register\/tJUvf-qpqjwrHNHwrefnVVBXIySJ_j29YCau\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">register for the meeting online<\/a>.
