FRAMINGHAM – The Bridgewater State University men’s basketball held off a late surge by the Framingham State University Rams to earn a hard fought 62-57 victory Friday evening in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at the Athletic Center. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bridgewater bears improve to 4-12 overall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rams drop to 2-15 overall and 0-5 in the Conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • The\u00a0Bears were led by 15 points from Jordan\u00a0Wetterlind\u00a0who connected on 5-of-11 from the floor and added two steals and two assists.\u00a0<\/li>
  • David Lane finished the game with 10 points for the Bears to go along with five boards and five assists, while Justin Parsons just missed a double\u00a0double\u00a0with his 10 points and eight rebounds. Parsons also added two assists, four steals and two blocks.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    • The Rams were led by a game-high 17 points from\u00a0Keith Hollman. Hollman connected on 4-of-6 from behind the arc and added nine rebounds and four assists.\u00a0<\/li>
    • Jahden Erold\u00a0tallied 10 points for the Rams with three boards, three assists and two steals, while Ivan\u00a0Nyantenji\u00a0added 10 points and six boards of his own.\u00a0<\/li>
    • Javaris Hill\u00a0also recorded 10 points with six boards and four steals off the bench for the Rams.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      HOW IT HAPPENED: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      • The first half was back and forth with four ties and five lead changes over the first 12 minutes and neither team leading by more than three points. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n
        • Tied 15-15 with 8:21 on the clock, the Bears rattled off an 8-0 run over the next two minutes to take a 23-15 lead with just over six minutes on the clock.\u00a0<\/li>
        • The Rams countered with an 8-2 run of their own\u00a0fueled\u00a0by a pair of threes from Hollman to cut the deficit to two,\u00a025-23, with four on the clock.\u00a0<\/li>
        • Bridgewater State countered pushing the lead back to 35-27 on a Laine three, but an\u00a0Erold trifecta cut the deficit to 35-30 at the half for the Rams.\u00a0Laine finished the first half 3-of-4 from behind the arc for the Bears, while Hollman led the Rams with 13 first half points\u00a0on\u00a05-of-7 from the floor and 3-of-4 from long range.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

          • The Bears opened the second half with an 8-3 run capped by a Quinton Champagne layup to take a 43-33 lead with 14:59 on the clock.\u00a0<\/li>
          • A\u00a0Johsue\u00a0Castillo layup with 12:38 remaining cut the deficit to 45-37, but the Bears quickly pushed the lead to 13 on a pair of occasions including 52-39 with just over 11 remaining.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n
            • Trailing 54-42, the Rams rattled off an 11-0 run capped by an Erold layup to cut the deficit to 54-53 with 4:45 remaining.  Stanley Pierre-Louis halted the spurt with a layup with 3:25 on the clock. <\/li>
            • The two teams traded baskets before the Bears pushed the lead back to 61-55 with 43 seconds remaining. <\/li>
            • A Hill layup cut the deficit back to four, 61-57 with 29.3 on the clock. The Bears turned the ball over, giving the Rams possession with 25.6 on the clock.  The Rams were unable to convert, and the ball went back to the Bears. <\/li>
            • Erold came up with a steal but missed underneath the hoop with just 2.3 remaining. The Rams fouled and the Bears hit one of two to earn the victory. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

              UP NEXT:\u00a0 The Rams are back in action\u00a0Monday when they travel to Fitchburg State at 7 p.m., while the Bears host Salem State on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
