We are enthusiastic to work with Eversource to bring an innovative shared geothermal network to Framingham that will help advance the local sustainability and resiliency of our community,\u201d said Mayor Charlie Sisitsky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"480\" height=\"641\" src=\"https:\/\/framinghamsource.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/green.business.advertise.source.house_.ad_.2020.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-13349\" srcset=\"https:\/\/framinghamsource.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/green.business.advertise.source.house_.ad_.2020.jpg 480w, https:\/\/framinghamsource.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/green.business.advertise.source.house_.ad_.2020-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Approved by the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities in October 2020, Eversource\u2019s pilot will explore if a geothermal network can be used instead of or in combination with traditional energy sources like natural gas, air source heat pumps, or delivered fuels such as heating oil or propane, and is focused on serving a diverse group of customers \u2013 from single- and multi- residential and commercial \u2013 within a dense neighborhood.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Geothermal technology works by transferring heat to and from underground wells into homes and businesses using heat pumps, which is both cost-effective and more efficient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A geothermal system&nbsp;uses wells, piping and pumps to pull the earth&#8217;s heat out of the ground to warm buildings in winter and pumps heat from buildings back into the ground in summer to cool them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>[broadstreet zone=&#8221;58610&#8243;]<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is renewable energy that comes from the sun&#8217;s rays and temperatures produced in the earth&#8217;s core.
