FRAMINGHAM – The Framingham High School unified basketball team returned to the court on Tuesday, October 6, after a more than a year away due to the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The team, 16 players this year, were supposed to have a game against Newton North High, but the Tigers had transportation issues, so it ended up being an intra-squad scrimmage on Tuesday instead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Tigers game was rescheduled for next week. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It will be the first unified basketball game of the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The unified basketball program is co-ed, and first began at Framingham High with the 2018-2019 season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2020-21 season was cancelled due to the pandemic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is the start of the 2021-22 season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The team is coached by Mike Tarlin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier this year, the Framingham High unified sports program, which also includes track & field was honored by Special Olympics. The Flyers athletics program was just one of just 155 school nation-wide to receive the award for the 2019-2020 school year.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
