Boston Marathon will be held on Monday, October 11.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>***<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>[broadstreet zone=&#8221;54526&#8243;]<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Lisie Haustein<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Hometown: <\/strong>Lima, Peru<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Marathon Team: <\/strong>Framingham<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Is this your first marathon? <\/strong>2nd marathon (NY 2017)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What is your personal best marathon time? <\/strong>4 hrs 40-something<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Is this your first Boston Marathon? \u00a0<\/strong> Yes<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Did you participate in the 2020 virtual marathon? <\/strong>No<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>[broadstreet zone=&#8221;70106&#8243;]<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Why run Boston? <\/strong>I am running Boston because I have lived here for 25 years and I&#8217;ve watched and gotten inspired by the Boston marathon many times.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Which charity are you raising money for? <\/strong>Boys and Girls Clubs of MetroWest<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Why did you pick that charity?\u00a0 <\/strong>I am a special education teacher in Framingham and I have seen many students in my school benefit from the programs provided by the B&amp;G club.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Link to your charity fundraising page:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.givengain.com\/ap\/lisie-haustein-raising-funds-for-boys-girls-clubs-of-metrowest-inc\/\">https:\/\/www.givengain.com\/ap\/lisie-haustein-raising-funds-for-boys-girls-clubs-of-metrowest-inc\/<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How did you first get into running? <\/strong>I started running when I was 28 or 29 years old. I went on a cross country trip with a friend who ran and she introduced me to running. My dad was a runner for 50+ years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Why do you like to run? <\/strong>I like to run because I can get into a zone. Sometimes it is like meditation and other times it helps me clear my head.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tell me something about your training for the marathon:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>[broadstreet zone=&#8221;59948&#8243;]<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How has the pandemic changed your running habits? <\/strong>During the pandemia I did mostly cycling. When I heard I was getting a bib, I started running again. I have done 2 runs with the team but I will do the next few runs alone because I will be visiting my family in Peru. The good thing about training there is the weather this time of the year. The not so good things are that I will be running mostly alone and I will have to wear a mask since most of the restrictions have not been lifted yet.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What is your favorite cross-training activity? <\/strong>I am planning to do some cycling and hopefully I can find an open studio to practice yoga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Do you prefer to train alone or with others? Why? <\/strong>I have done both. I think running with the team is better and helps with your motivation.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>[broadstreet zone=&#8221;59947&#8243;]<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Are you an early morning runner or evening runner? <\/strong>I am an evening runner while school is in session but I will be a morning runner when I am training this summer.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How do you stay motivated when you don&#8217;t want to run?<\/strong> I just get out and start running while telling myself &#8220;You can do this!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Music or no music when running? If music, favorite song? <\/strong>When I am running, I prefer to listen to podcasts. I listened to Serial and other podcasts focused on true crime stories when I trained for NY.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What is your favorite pre-running meal? <\/strong>Banana and peanut butter<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What is your favorite post-run snack? <\/strong>Beer and chips!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>[broadstreet zone=&#8221;59984&#8243;]<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tell SOURCE readers something about you that has nothing to do with running:\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0I love to travel. I have been to all continents except Antarctica. I had the opportunity to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro in 2010.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What shoes will you wear on Marathon day? <\/strong>On marathon day and any other day I run, I wear Brooks Adrenaline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What is your goal for the 2021 Boston Marathon? <\/strong>My goal is to finish the marathon in under 5 hours and have FUN!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Will you wear anything personal or symbolic the day of the 2021 Boston Marathon? Why?<\/strong> I may wear a red an white shirt\u00a0 (my country&#8217;s colors) with my name on it.
